For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.    John 1:17

Law & Grace Chaplains Corrections Training

Much of Law & Grace Ministry Training comes right out of the five weeks State Correctional Officer Training Manual that all COs must take to qualify. This training not only allows the chaplain to be more aware of the workings of the facility he is going into, but will prepare him to be more effective as he better understands the stresses of the Correctional Officer. One of our Reg. Directors is a qualified Correctional Officer having taken the five weeks training and has incorporated this valuable training mandatory now for all volunteer chaplains with L&GM.

All volunteer chaplains come in contact with inmates and with Correctional Officers as well. Listed below are the main subjects taught, making the volunteer more aware of the safety, security, rules and regulations, that will help prevent problems or wrongful actions while working within this unique environment.

Law and Grace Corrections Training includes:

    Criminals and General Inmates

    Safety and Security

Do’s and Don’ts and Jail Standards

    Inmate Rights and Legal Liability

    Jail/Prison Privileges and Services

    Visitation and Jail Standards

    Classification and Assignment

    Documentation and Report Writing

    Counseling and Behavior Studies

    Counseling, Confidentiality and the Law

    Death Notification and Other Duties

L&GM Chaplain Corrections Training is only for chaplains going into a correctional facility and not for use or distribution for any other purpose. © 2004
